Grimes Elementary School Reviews

My son attended Grimes for 2 years, and I was never once informed of when and where a PTA meeting would be. I was told 'someone would call me' or 'call back later'. I had been very active at his old school and wanted to help, but that just isn't an option here. Too bad, because the principal is awesome, although I wasn't blown away by the staff.

When I first walked into Grimes 6 years ago I sighed once inside the door, I knew this school was the right choice. I had been online researching schools and when I pulled up Grimes School that was the end of my searching. My son is Autistic and I was looking for a small school so he wouldn't be so over-whelmed. He loved it, he never complained about being bullied, the kids seemed to embrace him and would watch over him. My daughter has spent all of her elementary years at Grimes and she loves it, she loves the staff and Principal Baldwin. The principal and the staff are always friendly and anxious to help in anyway. I tell everybody I know about Grimes, the school and staff have truly been a Blessing to our family.

Grimes Elementary has wonderful teachers who provide a real variety of learning activities on a limited budget. The students show a real love for their school and display excellent social and academic skills.

Grimes is one of the best kept secrets in the Tulsa Public School system. It's like getting a private school education on a public school dime. I would highly recommend Grimes to any family and do!

I moved my daughter out of a Magnet school to join Grimes in third grade, this was a hard move for her but within two days she was settled in and just loving school again. My youngest son is currently in first grade and tells me all the time how he loves his school. The teachers at Grimes are awesome, they really care about the children and go above and beyond to help the children do their best. The principal is always around talking with the children and greeting the parents and Bobby in the office is always on hand to help with any questions. I have been so blessed to find this school and both of my children are receiving an excellent education in a loving and caring atmosphere. Thankyou to all of you at Grimes.

We specifically moved our 3rd grader to Grimes last year from Eliot. We were so blessed to be received by a staff of wonderful teachers and principal that puts your child needs first. Grimes focuses on the whole child through academics, character building and making sure your child feels loved and accepted. We could not have asked for a better school!

Grimes is a wonderful school for my children. The staff cares so much about each and every child. It is well staffed and a very safe school for my children to learn at.

We went to enroll our child in our neighborhood school and left never to return. We applied to the Magnet Schools in Tulsa area and even looked in to homeschooling. Three days before school started, we rec'd a call from the Principal, Grace Dean, that our transfer was approved. That was 7 years ago. Our oldest daughter is now at Edison, after 6 successful, happy years at Grimes. Our second child is now a fourth grader and is doing just as well. Our children are who they are today because of the solid foundation they received beginning with the Pre-K program. We've had the pleasure to experience all day kindergarten, a phenominal multi-age class, an amazing ORFF music program, traveling 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes that prepare the children for middle school and a phenominal staff. We recommend Grimes to any family in Tulsa.

Our son began at Grimes in their pre-K program. We had looked into having him transfer into many schools (the one in our area of the city offered a year round program and we moved into the area in the middle of a session) and Grimes really appealed to us with it's small overall student size. We love it!

This is such a wonderful, friendly school. You walk in and are warmly greeted by the great office staff and principal. This is definitely Tulsa's best kept secret. The teachers are hard working and go beyond what is expected to reach every student. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a quality education in a public school setting.

All five of our children attend Grimes. The oldest one just finished her last year there and we were sad that she had to leave! I love Grimes! The Teachers and Staff are kind and friendly. It is a smaller school, therefore, most all of the Staff know all the children by name. PTA is great! Parents are always more than willing to volunteer their time. I couldn't imagine our Family anywhere else. I highly recommend any new Family moving to Tulsa to attend Grimes. They are happy to give you a tour anytime you need. The Blanton Family

Before moving to Tulsa from the eastcoast, we searched all public schools in the vicinity for education is our top priority. After several tours (Broken Arrow, Union, Jenks) we found this very unassuming school around 61st & Harvard, went through our printed papers for it's test scores, went in ,tour & sat in class. That was 5 years ago, and we've never been so happy and fortunate that even private schools around the city can't match the credibility, hardwork & dedication the teachers & staff do in maing it a great school for my kids ! THANK YOU .

My grandson goes to this school and loves the school, but he has been bullied lately by a student who the teacher seems to a line herself with for some reason. There does not seem to be a balance that this teacher is using in dealing with both students. We are thinking about moving him to another district. We are concerned that the school is not following all the guidelines set down by the school district and state law.

I think Grimes is wonderful. The staff is great and the students learn so much. I give this school a 5 out of 5 definatly. My child went from a F and D to A and B! Grimes also has wonderful safty. I always see a safty patrol in and outside of school before and after school. They have great testing scores. My child has Linda Call for 5th grade and she always makes sure my child does her best. The music teacher has wonderful after school programs and my daughter has always particpated and comes home knowing new things she would never know at Eliot or Carnigie or any other school.
