I like playing with my kids and taking them new places, trying new things and meeting new people. I'm interested in all learning, even the hard kind. I don't like to wear shoes or socks in the house. I work a lot in and out of the house and like to keep busy. I enjoy being open and I'm not sure how to be any other way. That's not to be confused with my being open to anything. I have a fairly decent grasp on what I'm into and what my limits are.

My stats say that I'm "more attentive" and "more loving". Let me try to explain what that means to me. I want make it my goal to see the girl I care about smile. I enjoy cuddling. I consider myself liberal (GASP), which to me means that I'm pretty accepting of others, and I keep my beliefs and morals out of other people's lives. I am an odd mix of interests. I love sitting down to watch my New York Giants play football on Sunday afternoon, play PS3 alone or with friends, and equally love being outdoors doing anything. I guess this is the long walks and cuddling on the couch section, eh? Well, ok, I'll play along. First of all, I'm kind of a nerd at heart. I like The West Wing and MASH on TV, but that's about it. I don't even bother having cable. I've been known to do karaoke and even ran it at my last bar job. What I lack in tone I make up for in volume.

I'm currently teaching English, Business and Psych at a community college. I really like teaching. I'm generally an introvert, but teaching gives me just enough of being the center of attention. It also gives me the feeling that perhaps, just maybe, I'm doing something that will leave the world a better place. Occasionally, I even volunteer for some noble cause. Perhaps I'm doing some sort of karmic penance for my years of serving drinks.

As for sports, I have to root for OSU because they play with so much heart...which is code for they lose a lot. I'm not a nut for it, but if a game is on, it's as good a reason as any to drink beer and eat nachos. But, I AM a big Cubs fan. I've never lived in Chicago or anything, but I guess seeing them on WGN as a kid was enough. So I WILL scream and shout for them. I guess I'm a glutton for the underdog. Let's jump right into this profile. Some things about me you might like to know: Among other things, I enjoy writing, cooking and baking, landscaping, growing fruit trees, in-depth discussions, nature walks, laughing, travel, and the outdoors. I also love reading well-crafted writing in nearly any form--literary fiction, essays, memoirs, history, poetry, aphorisms, etc.

It didn't occur to me for a while to add the following: I'm honest and considerate. I won't tell you things that aren't true, and I will try to take your best interests seriously. (Dealing with contractors, in renovating my home, reminded me that these things shouldn't be assumed, and maybe aren't that common.)

I'm a good balance of the heart and mind--in other words, emotionally aware and nurturing, with a keen intellect. My strongest subjects are psychology & human nature, and philosophy & religion (although I am agnostic).

By temperament I'm more private than social--I enjoy quiet times a lot, and need alone time. I like going places, yes, but generally with well-chosen company, not large gatherings of strangers. I'm big-picture oriented--conceptual; emotionally aware and harmony oriented; and more spontaneous and open-minded than structured or fixed. (INFP, for those familiar with the MBTI, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator typology.) I'm also oriented more towards the inspiring and poetic than the pragmatic and prosaic.

But on a pragmatic note... I'm gainfully occupied in a career that pays the bills and often enough gives me a chance to make a meaningful difference; I live on a picturesque and spacious property; I have no children, but probably would like to build a family someday--and I've got a German Shepherd puppy who's growing up fast.

Although on a few important goals I try to stay on track, on most things I tend to let events unfold, instead of trying to tightly control them.

Also, it says I'm more Republican. Actually, I'm registered as an independent, and I flatter myself that this accurately reflects my approach--that I think for myself. While I am fiscally conservative, and believe in a strong national defense, being agnostic I'm definitely not a religious dogmatist, I have quite a live-and-let-live attitude towards most matters, and I think that nearly anything people do in the privacy of their own home, or in such a way that doesn't harm others, should be no business of government. Yo! I'm Dusty. Well, to get the boring stuff out of the way... I work, I play, I sleep, I have nice teeth, I like to have a good stiff drink, I (still) smoke cigarettes (wish I didn't though), I HAD nice shoes (long story, uninteresting but long)... Hello I just thought this would be intresting to to try out. So here it is. Lets see about me I like the outdoors, riding my motorcycle, traveling, playing a few video games, watching movies and making my home made beer. I hang out with a wide range of people from what most would consider to be redneck blue collar job types to the high up white collar types and all of them in between. I am just as comfortable hanging out in a yuppy bar as I am hanging out at a bonefire in the middle of a cow pasture. I like to see new things and try things that will give me a rush but then again I also like to just sit around the house and watch movies all kinds of movies from the so called chick flicks to the action adventure movies and even the murder mystery ones. I'm not an outdoors type person. Actually, I pretty much hate being outside. One notable exception, though; anything that has to do with water. I love water (lakes, beach, any kind of shoreline, hot tubs, showers, etc), and I will put up with having to be outside if I get to spend time on the water. I like going boating on the lake, beach vacations, pounding surf. I do spend some time gardening, because I love flowers and tomatoes. Otherwise I'd much rather stay inside. Indoor plumbing and climate control are very important to me. To me, camping means staying in a Holiday Inn without an indoor pool.

I'm very protective of my alone time. I need that time to clear my head and recharge my batteries. I'm very comfortable being alone and doing things by myself. It also means that you wanting to spend an afternoon with your buddies ATV riding somewhere (or something like that) won't be a problem for me, provided you make time to be with me sometime, too.
